Admission

You’re first step will be to contact Department of Social Development by calling 1-866-441-4340.

 

 

They will assign you a case manager who will do up a LTC (long term care plan). From there a needs assessment manager will be assigned to your case for preparing a financial assessment. From there you will be provided with a list of care homes to view and make a decision for placement.

 

 

It will then be your responsibility to gather all necessary information and documentations needed. You will make the decision on which home your family member/friend will be residing at.

 

 

If admission to any of these homes:

 

~Payment is made on arrival including twelve postdated cheques. If it is fully subsidized, cheques will still be required until home receives finances from Social Development. Payments are due at the 1st of every month.

 

 

 

 

How do I go about getting my family member or friend into a Care Home?

Admission of a private-pay resident


Private-pay applicants may be admitted in an approved special care home without a full LTC assessment. If they provide the operator with a certificate by a physician as evidence of medical examination prior to admission, and there is evidence of an examination or written assessment indicated that the private -pay applicant has social and personal needs that can be met in a special care home.
